My Story

No Substitutes was established in an effort to inspire entrepreneurs. Being an entrepreneur comes with an enormous amount of pressure and not enough support.

In my family, food is the heart of all we do. My mom is the eldest of 11 kids and Italian immigrant parents. I discovered inspiration in my grandmother’s handwritten bread recipe which featured the simple yet powerful phrase, “No Substitutes.” Inspired by this bread recipe, my philosophy is built upon a foundation of authenticity, integrity and relentless encouragement. 

Bread, beyond being a staple of life, symbolizes the very core of our being, representing community, tradition, and a source of energy.  Just as bread stands as a cornerstone in many cultures. Taking the time and making bread dough from scratch should have no substitutes. Your very approach in your small business should come along with no substitutes on your integrity. 

I understand the unique challenges faced by entrepreneurs. I was actively involved in the rapid rise and evolution of the e-commerce industry, beginning my own journey at Borsheims & Hayneedle before venturing into my own entrepreneurial path.  In 2007, I co-founded eCreamery Ice Cream, which recently marked its impressive 16th anniversary.
